Local TV in Rarotonga Covers Dartmouth College Linguistics FSP

Watch a series of local TV interviews with Professor Jim Stanford and students on the Winter 2025 Dartmouth College Linguistics FSP in Rarotonga in the Cook Islands!

Professor Stanford is leading a group of students on the Dartmouth College Linguistics FSP in a field research project focused on the language spoken in Rarotonga which is related to the Māori language of New Zealand. The students are helping with a grant-funded project led by Dr. Akevai Nicholas at the University of Auckland and Dartmouth professor Rolando Coto Solano, in collaboration with the University of the South Pacific in Rarotonga, The language is called "te reo Māori" or just "te reo" by speakers of the language and you will hear Prof. Stanford using that term in this first interview.
