The annual Department of Linguistics lunch for graduating seniors on June 5, 2024 at the DOC House provided a chance to award the Academic Achievement Award in Linguistics to a graduating senior. This year's winner was Dagger Bishop '24. He completed a senior honors thesis on "Nasality, Nasalance, and Other Sociophonetic Correlates of "Gay-sounding" Speech: Methods and Empirical Research" advised by Prof. James Stanford. He plans to teach English for the JET program in Japan in the year after graduation. The Department of Linguistics graduated 13 majors and modified majors and 4 minors this year.
