Dartmouth Students and Faculty Present Research at Sociolinguistics Conference

Nine Dartmouth students, alums, and professors presented research in Chicago at New Ways of Analyzing Variation-43, October 23-26, 2014. Anna Driscoll '16 and Emma Lape '16 presented a paper about their field research on the Northern Cities Vowel Shift in Syracuse. Sydney Allard '16, Zach Cooper '17, Kalina Newmark '11, Maggie Seawright '17, and Nacole Walker '11 presented their research on prosody in Native American English. Professors Jim Stanford and Sravana Reddy also presented a talk about using automatic speech recognition for sociophonetic vowel analysis.
