Screening of "Life of Ivanna" (2021) with film director Renato Borrayo Serrano

Ivanna, an Indigenous Nenets single mother of five, in her twenties, lives on the Taimyr Peninsula in the Siberian Arctic.

Film screening of Life of Ivanna (2021) and conversation with film director Renato Borrayo Serrano and Indigenous language activist Kseniia Bolshakova.  Ivanna, an Indigenous Nenets single mother of five, in her twenties, lives on the Taimyr Peninsula in the Siberian Arctic. She leads a traditional nomadic life, driving her herd of reindeer in the tundra like her family had done for centuries. However, she has to make a dramatic decision to abandon her traditional lifestyle. There is no way back, and Ivanna takes life into her own hands and has to secure a future for herself and her children. Varvara Korkina will provide an introduction to the Taimyr Peninsula.
